Providing leadership to Redeemer's staff and ministries.
Steve has been a pastor since 1981 and the Lead Pastor at Redeemer's since January 1990.
Though he has earned a Bachelor of Arts from Wheaton College, a Master of Theology from Dallas Seminary, and a Doctorate in Ministry from Western Seminary, Steve will correct you if you call him anything but "Steve." He believes he has one of the best jobs in the world, and would rather be teaching the Bible than doing nearly anything else. One of the passions of Steve's life is to help others find and follow Jesus.
Steve also loves bicycling, anything Mac (iPhone, iPad, iMac), a good story read or told, strong coffee and anything really well-made. Given a choice, he'll lean toward using anything with two wheels instead of four (he rides an Independent Fabrication Bicycle and a Vespa 300 GTS). When asked how long he's been married to his college sweetheart, Barb, Steve's standard answer is, "Not long enough." Whenever possible, they enjoy the company of their two grown children, Melissa and Justin. Also, as “Grandpa" to a precious granddaughter Ellory, he is looking forward to this new adventure as a grandparent and enjoying the wonderful gifts that come with this role.
Associate Pastor: Children and Youth Ministries
Suzy joined the Redeemer’s staff in August 2002. She is passionate about helping children of all ages discover God’s amazing love and truth in ways that are relevant, challenging and fun. Suzy provides leadership and oversight for the ministries of Nursery through High School.
In responding to God and reaching beyond Redeemer’s, Suzy is active in the community. She serves on the Douglas County Commission on Children & Families and organizes the annual community Father Daughter Dance.
Suzy is married to the love of her life, Jon, and together they share four children: Tiffany, Summer, Jay and Mollie. Suzy and Jon are also blessed to be grandparents of three precious boys: Michael, Gabriel and Romeo.
Her nurturing gifts also spill over into her hobbies. Suzy is a gifted artist, enjoys gardening and most any activity that allows her to use her creativity skills, including throwing sticks for Jon. (You will have to ask her or Jon to hear the rest of the story.)
Before moving to Roseburg, Suzy operated an emergency shelter for teens and was the Youth Director at the First Presbyterian Church in Brookings, OR.

Hugh married his wife, Peggy, in 2000. They have two children, Eden and Hudson.
